BOOKS I READ AND ENJOYED

This has been a busy month so far, but I still managed to read three books. I read “Where Are You Now?” by Mary Higgins Clark, “The Parting.” by Beverly Lewis, and “Let’s Really Live Before We Die,” by Kathlene R. Fisher.

Mary Higgins Clark is one of my favorite writers and her book was entertaining and the suspense was well done as always. I don’t think it was her best book, but it was enjoyable. If you love to read, you will enjoy this intriguing plot.

The other two books were about faith. Beverly Lewis tells a story of faith and salvation as she brings us into the lives of this Amish family. Some of the Amish families hold on to the old ways as their ancestors did, and others find a new way of faith and salvation; the title “The Parting,” fits perfectly with this story. This book is also a story of a family’s love for each other. I enjoyed reading this book and also liked Beverly Lewis’s style. She is a pro at communicating her message in a way that holds the reader’s attention.

“Let’s Really Life Before We Die,” by Kathlene R. Fisher was written by my neighbor. Kathy knocked on my door one evening last week while I was preparing dinner. Kathy told me she had written a book and she had stop by to share her story. As she clutched this little blue book in her hands, Kathy told me that four years ago she had been diagnosed with advanced Chron’s Disease and the doctor told her she had less than a month to live. She had wrote her story and Tate Publishing had published her book. It would be in bookstore in July. Her faith and many, many surgeries had given her four years and she is counting on more and more. Kathy shared her faith in God and her joy to be able to experience life and live everyday she has. I love her title, “Let’s Really Live Before We Die.” After dinner, I read Kathy’s book before I went to bed. I cried, I laughed and I felt blessed that this lady had touched my life. Without faith, I don’t know how anyone could go through the pain and suffering that Kathy endured. I am happy that I got to meet Kathy and I am looking forward to her friendship. This is an inspirational true story. God Bless, Lyn

DO YOU SET GOALS FOR YOURSELF?

I find myself wondering around not getting much done, but if I set goals for the week, I accomplish them. It is a wonderful feeling to know I have completed those little weekly goals that would never get done, if I didn’t write them down and challenge myself to achieve them. My husband taught me to set goals thirty five years ago, and that little task has served me well. I have accomplished many things in my life because I set goals. When you set goals and work to achieve the goal, it is amazing the wonderful path your life can take. I’m a goal setter. I hope you are. Lyn
